YESS! School-based Therapy
St. Luke’s University Health Network offers the YESS! school-based
therapy program in the school districts throughout St. Luke’s coverage
area. This program provides integrated mental health treatment for
children, adolescents and teens in the designated schools.
The YESS! Program helps students overcome emotional, behavioral or
social problems that interfere with success at school and at home. As
members of the school-based team, we can serve students in a familiar
setting, offering minimal interruption to their school day. Services may
be extended to students’ families as well as faculty and staff of the
participating school districts.
Services may include:
- Overcoming behavioral, emotional or social problems that interfere with success at school and at home
- Reducing disruptive behavior
- Improving self-monitoring skills
- Psychiatric assessment
- Psychiatric medication management
- Tele-psychiatry visits for student and family
Common issues may include:
- Aggression
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Isolation
- Poor social skills
- Stress
- Trauma
- Truancy
Our therapists will work with the students and will include
collaboration with school staff and parents to help to reduce disruptive
behavior and improve self-monitoring skills.
Services
School-based therapy includes:
- Individual and group therapy
- Family counseling
- Risk assessments, as needed (suicidal or homicidal)
- Specialized training and support services for parents and teachers
- Collaboration with other community providers
- Linkage to additional community resources
- Psychiatric assessment as needed
- Linkage to psychiatric medication management (MD or PA-C)
- Linkage to a psychiatrist or advanced practitioner either face to face or via tele-psychiatry
- Interpreter services available
Our Staff
St. Luke’s school-based therapists are master’s level credentialed to
provide services based on their degree in social work, counseling or
psychology. These creative professionals partner with teachers, school
administrators and parents to develop individualized treatment plans and
behavioral interventions for students.
Our medical doctors and advanced practitioners are certified and
credentialed to provide services within the scope of practice for
psychiatrists and nurse practitioners or physician assistants. All are
certified at the appropriate level in accordance with their governing
psychiatric or advanced practitioner board.
